Saskatchewan has three post-secondary
institutions whose emphasis is on serving Indian and Native
students. They are the new First Nations University of Canada,
the Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research
(including Dumont Technical Institute), and the Saskatchewan
Indian Institute of Technologies (also known as the Saskatchewan
Indian Community College).

The new First Nations University of Canada officially opened it's
doors June 21, 2003. Formerly known as the Saskatchewan Indian
Federated College, the First Nations University of Canada offers
degree and certificate programs.

Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI)
The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research
(GDI) was formally incorporated as a non-profit corporation in
1980 to serve the educational needs of Saskatchewan's Métis
communities across the province. In addition to direct program
delivery and in keeping with its goal of enhancing cultural and
community educational opportunities to the Métis, the Institute
maintains a library in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert. It
also has a publishing department.

Dumont Technical
Institute (DTI)
Dumont Technical Institute is the Gabriel Dumont Institute's
adult upgrading and training arm. DTI, which is academically
federated with the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science
and Technology (SIAST), was designed to meet the educational
and technical needs of the Métis. DTI offers a wide variety
of programs, many of which are community-based in order to meet
the needs of the local community.

Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies
The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (Saskatchewan
Indian Community College) delivers vocational training to Status
Indians. It is an educational institution of the Federation of
Saskatchewan Indian Nations. Programs are offered through satellite
training centres in communities throughout the province and are
geared to the economic activities of the Bands in each district.
